Museum of Victoria:  32 Swanston St. Melbourne.  A large collection of Australiana, natural history and scientific exhibits, including a children’s museum with various hands-on displays.  Main museum open daily.

Huonville:  About 37km SW Hobart.  Center of the State’s apple-growing industry.  Apple museum at Grove, open daily.  In the early days valuable softwood Huon pine was discovered in the district.

Lone Pine Sanctuary: Jesmond Rd, Fig Tree Pocket. Australia’s largest koala sanctuary, set in tranquil bush land on the banks of the Brisbane River. You can feed kangaroos, cuddle koalas and see other Australian animals.

Movie World: Pacific Highway Oxenford. Theme park covering 168ha, with a working studio, sets from famous movies, stunt shows, animal training demonstrations. Meals available in a recreation of Rick’s Café (from the movie classic Casablanca) where the specialty is Asian food.
