Dandenong Ranges is 35km east of Melbourne. The area features spectacular scenery, wooded hills, fern-filled gullies, bushwalking paths, and attractive villages. Its gardens are noted for azaleas, rhododendrons and berry fruits. Places of interest include Sherbrooke Forest, home to colorful parrots and lyrebirds. Another popular attraction is Puffing Billy, a vintage steam train which departs from Belgave for trips through the ranges. Accessible by road or coach tour.
