Captain Cook’s Landing Place:  At Kurnell, about 35 km south of Sydney, on Botany Bay.  Site of the first recorded landing by Europeans on the east coast of Australian in 1770.  Now part of the Botany Bay National Park.  Follow the signposted walking track past a series  of historical monuments and points of interest and an easy bushwalking track which highlights the area’s  diverse plant species.  Large reserve with picnic and barbecue areas.  Visitor center includes a shop and diplyas highlighting the history and natural features of the area.
